Remembering History, Inspiring Hope, and Embracing Healing

In a continued effort to heal from what has been referred to as “one of the saddest days in the history of South Carolina” the residents of South Carolina gather as a united community to commemorate the 50th anniversary of the Orangeburg Massacre. Respecting the students that lost their lives that fateful night, as well as supporting those who survived, we gather to inspire hope and brotherhood while moving toward a peaceful future together.

South Carolina State University invites you to join us as we honor those affected by the Orangeburg Massacre. Supported by community leaders, law enforcement, school faculty, students and residents alike, this cultural history ceremony promises to be one of optimism, inspiration and understanding.

Reception immediately following the program at the I.P. Stanback Museum and Planetarium.
